The Requirements

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental health or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in an area such as fire prevention, environmental compliance, health, industrial hygiene, or safety, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Quick question for you - click here
  • Technical proficiency and deep knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Proven success training employees locally and remotely.
  • The ability to influence from a non-authoritarian position.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • The ability to travel initially up to 20% of the time, primarily in the US. Travel to China is a possibility. Travel could increase as the role expands.
  • Experience working in a company with facilities located worldwide, preferred.
  • A chemical background is a plus.

The Role

In this role you will plan and direct a variety of health, safety, environment, and loss prevention programs that will assure the highest possible degree of safety for our employees, plant facilities, and equipment. Quick question for you - click here You will develop methods to identify operational hazards, safety problem areas, and hazardous conditions, then determine and implement best practice solutions. We often receive new equipment which you will monitor and evaluate for safety measure consistency.

Every employee is required to complete EHS training annually. Additionally, new employees have to be trained. You'll need to conduct Safety Committee meetings and ongoing training assuring that we're compliant and employees are well versed in EHS measures.

Your duties will include:
  • Assuring that the companies are in compliance with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Reviewing injury and property damage reports and coordinating the implementation of controls from the results of your analysis.
  • Developing company hazard controls by formulating and recommending policies, codes, safety, health, and environmental standards and procedures, then implementing changes.
  • Incorporating essential safety, health, and environmental requirements in all purchasing and control actions; purchasing safety equipment and supplies.
  • Directing the waste program including collection, packing, storage, recycling and disposal for all assigned facilities.
  • Developing specialized educational training materials and conducting safety and environmental training programs to communicate essential information.
  • Assisting in new employee health, safety, and environmental orientation development.
  • Assuming responsibility for the overall administration of the worker's compensation program for all assigned companies.
